Is it safe to give a cat Lysine with vitamin C plus echinacea?

My cat was drooling excessively, so I took him to the vet. I was first told that he injured his tonque by licking something hot or caustic and prescribed an antibiotic. My cat was fine while on the antibiotic, but began drooling again as soon as he went off the drugs. I took him back to the vet, who now says he has a virus and I should give him Lysine, which I can buy at any grocery store. The only Lysine I could find also includes vitamin C and echinacea, and I'm worried about giving my cat somethng meant for humans. Unfortunately, he's getting worse, and I need to do something now. He can hardly eat his tongue bothers him so much!

I would call the vet %26amp; ask before giving the other medications that go with the Lysine.
Reply:Lysine may be helpful for viral infections in cats, you will want to get a product with lysine only though as echinacea in a human dose would not be good for your cat. It is not too hard to find, most pharmacies and health stores carry it.
Reply:dont give your cat anything befor you talk to your vet
